Who We Are
We are a Church of England congregation who gather for worship at Saint George's Parish Church, Stamford Street, Mossley, OL5 0HT.
2007 is a very special year for us at St George's, with two very significant anniversaries to celebrate.
The first St George's Church of England Church was built 250 years ago in Mossley, within our present Churchyard. The remains of the south west corner of that building can still be seen today. It was consecrated on 13th June 1757 by the Bishop of Chester.
Our present St George's Church building was built 125 years ago. The consecration took place on 23rd November 1882, by Bishop Fraser of Manchester.
