"Mossley Children Fly to Visit Santa December 11th was an exciting and momentous day for 15 lucky Mossley schoolchildren. They were off to Manchester airport to meet Santa. It was a very early start at 7am but we were soon on the way, with New Charter kindly paying for the coach and sending one or two people along to help out. After check-in, the children had their photographs taken with a large, friendly teddy bear.
We then proceeded to the Atlantic Suite where refreshments were laid on, with a disco until time for the flight to find Santa.
I don't know who had more fun the adults, including Mossley Mayor Val Carter and her consort Alan, or the children! Then we were off the children stamping their feet and flapping their arms to ensure the plane took off safely. On the way back from our short flight there was a sudden bump-Santa had landed on top of the plane and we brought him back safely to the airport! There he was in his Grotto with his fairy helpers to hear the children's Christmas wishes but he had sacks of toys on hand and everyone came back overladen with presents.
Then it was back to the coach and home to Mossley with some very tired children after an exciting day out. Thanks to Jean Caldwell for the brief report and pictures, everyone who helped out on the day, New Charter and the people at Childflight who made the day possible.
